GOLDEN ROAD ESTATE VINEYARD & WINERY

Golden Road Estate Vineyard (Winery to come) is a small vineyard located on the Kaw Valley Wine Trail growing quality wine grapes for award winning Kansas wineries. The idea of the vineyard came about in 2008, with property being purchased in 2009. The initial plantings were in the Spring of 2011 consisting of Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Chamborcin, Traminette, Chancelor, and Vignoles. Visits on weekends by appointment only.


HCC VINEYARD

Highland Community College Viticulture and Enology program has planted four separate vineyards since it began in 2008. The first vines (900) were planted in HCC’s Oregon Trail Vineyard north of Wamego, one-half mile west of the intersection or Oregon Trail Rd and Onaga Rd. More vines were planted both on the HCC-Wamego campus (HCC Research Vineyard, 540 vines) and at the HCC-Klinefelter farm 3 miles east of Hiawatha, KS on HWY 36 (160 vines). Finally, HCC planted the Military Trail Vineyard (3500 vines) across HWY 24 from HCC-Wamego in 2014 making a total of 5000 vines.


MASON VINEYARDS

Mason Vineyards, located in Edwardsville, Kansas, have 250 Norton (also known as Cynthiana) vines and 280 Chambourcin vines covering over an acre. Mason Vineyards supply quality grapes to Middle Creek Winery, and may someday grow into a winery themselves. They can be reached at 913-745-4436.

 


RAPPAHO VINEYARD

Rappaho Vineyard is located south of Lawrence in historic Vinland, Kansas, where James Naismith was once pastor of a church and home of the oldest and still operating library in the state. The vineyard provides grapes to White Tail Winery and offers Chambourcin, Vidal Blanc, Noiret, and Marquis. Rappaho Vineyard on Coal Creek has a beautiful, rural, rustic setting ideal for small weddings and other outdoor gatherings. WILD HARE VINEYARD

Wild Hare Vineyard & Winery, LLC (no winery yet) is located approximately 5 miles south of Lawrence, Kansas in one of the most beautiful areas in the state. Rick and Debby Hird planted the 1 1/2 acre vineyard in 2007 in equal parts Cynthiana/Norton, Traminette and Steuben. Presently, Wild Hare Vineyard supplies high quality grapes to local wineries, but the owners are working on plans to expand the vineyard and build a winery and tasting room.
